Our family of brands

Six specialist brands. One coordinated standard of care.

Each U Vision Group brand is a specialist in its own domain. Together, they form the most integrated eye care ecosystem in the Greater Toronto Area — with shared records, coordinated pathways, and no dead ends in your care.

Clinical — Medical & Surgical

Comprehensive medical and surgical ophthalmology.

When your eye condition needs subspecialty expertise, this is where that expertise lives.

Uptown Eye Specialists is the clinical anchor of the U Vision Group network — fellowship-trained subspecialists across cataract, glaucoma, retina, cornea, oculoplastics, diabetic eye disease, neuro-ophthalmology, and complex surgical conditions. Patients arrive by referral from optometrists, primary-care physicians, and emergency departments across Ontario.

Canada’s highest-volume laser-assisted cataract surgery centre (ReLACS), with outcomes data published across 3,000+ cases. The same surgical team that pioneered the technique nationally continues to refine it — informing the rest of the field.

The specialist your referring doctor trusts — not because of marketing, but because the outcomes show up in the published evidence and the patients who come back.

Areas of expertise

  • Cataract surgery & premium IOLs
  • Glaucoma medical & surgical
  • Retina & diabetic eye disease
  • Cornea & ocular surface
  • Oculoplastics & orbital surgery

Clinical — Refractive & Aesthetic

Laser vision correction and cosmetic eye procedures.

For patients ready to see without glasses — or to refresh the eyes’ frame.

U Eye Laser Cosmetic Centre is the refractive and aesthetic arm of the network. UltraView FREEDOM laser vision correction is offered alongside ICL (implantable contact lens) for higher prescriptions and patients outside the laser candidacy window. Refractive lens exchange options are coordinated with the Uptown Eye cataract team when age and lens biology make that the better path.

On the aesthetic side: blepharoplasty for upper and lower eyelids, anti-aging laser treatments, LipLase lip rejuvenation, U-Plasma fibroblast, and TightSculpting body and face contouring. All procedures performed by physicians with surgical training — not technicians.

Candidacy is determined through complete optical, ocular health, and lifestyle profiling. Many patients arrive thinking they want one procedure and leave with a better-matched plan. That’s the point of seeing a specialist.

Services

  • ICL (implantable contact lens)
  • Refractive lens exchange
  • Blepharoplasty (upper & lower)

U Dry Eye Institute
Specialist Dry Eye Care · Est. 2006

Clinical — Subspecialty

Advanced dry eye diagnosis and treatment.

Chronic dry eye doesn’t always come from one place — and the right treatment depends on knowing which.

Most optometrists and general ophthalmologists are excellent at first-line dry eye care. UDEI exists for the patients that doesn’t reach. Advanced diagnostics identify the root cause — meibomian gland dysfunction, aqueous deficiency, ocular surface inflammation, post-surgical neurotrophic changes, or systemic contributors — before any treatment is selected.

Treatment options include intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy, thermal pulsation, autologous serum protocols, scleral lens fitting in coordination with U Optical, and prescription escalation when indicated. Established 2006, with one of Canada’s longest dry eye specialty track records.

The patients UDEI sees most often: chronic discomfort that hasn’t responded to over-the-counter drops, post-LASIK or post-cataract dry eye, and contact-lens-intolerant patients who’ve been told there’s nothing more to try.

Diagnostic & treatment scope

  • Meibography & tear film analysis
  • Osmolarity & inflammatory markers
  • IPL therapy (intense pulsed light)
  • Thermal pulsation (LipiFlow / TearCare)
  • Autologous serum tears
  • Scleral lens co-management
  • Post-surgical dry eye protocols
  • Systemic-contributor workup

Optometry — Community front door

Comprehensive optometry and curated eyewear.

Often the first door a patient walks through — and the door that stays open through the whole journey.

U Optical is the extended arm of the network in the community: comprehensive eye exams, specialty contact lens fittings, an in-house myopia control programme for children, low vision services, and a curated eyewear gallery including Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, and Ray-Ban among others.

For many patients, this is the entry point. Routine exams identify early disease that gets referred to Uptown Eye. Children with progressing myopia start a control programme that protects long-term vision. Patients who can’t tolerate standard contacts get fitted into specialty options — including scleral lenses co-managed with UDEI.

After surgery, patients come back here too — new prescriptions after cataract, multifocal contact lens fittings after refractive surgery, glasses for the few remaining tasks where lenses still help. Care continues, just in a different chair.

Services

  • Comprehensive eye exams
  • Paediatric eye care
  • Myopia control programme
  • Specialty contact lens fitting
  • Scleral lens (with UDEI)
  • Low vision services
  • Designer eyewear (Versace, D&G, Burberry)
  • Post-surgical eyewear

Operational — Surgical Infrastructure

Purpose-built ambulatory eye surgery.

The surgical infrastructure that powers the clinical network.

U Surgical Centre is an Ontario-accredited ambulatory surgical facility purpose-built for ophthalmic procedures. State-of-the-art infection control, anaesthesia support, and surgical instrumentation — the kind of environment patients deserve for procedures that demand sterile precision.

Patients arrive pre-booked by their Uptown Eye or UELC surgeon. Cataract, glaucoma, oculoplastic, and refractive procedures run through here. Recovery is on-site with experienced ophthalmic nursing, then home the same day in almost every case.

Two locations across the Greater Toronto Area, both fully accredited. Patients don’t shop for this brand directly — it’s the operating room behind the consultation, the part of care most patients only see once.

Procedure scope

  • Cataract surgery (incl. ReLACS)
  • Glaucoma surgical procedures
  • Refractive surgery
  • Oculoplastic & orbital procedures
  • Vitreoretinal procedures
  • Anaesthesia support on-site
  • Day-of recovery suite
  • Accredited infection control

Retail — E-commerce

Eye care products, vetted by clinicians.

Not a generic pharmacy — every product solves a real patient need.

U Shoppe is the at-home extension of the clinical brands. Every product is reviewed and approved by UVG’s clinical team before it’s listed — preservative-free artificial tears the cornea team actually recommends, lid hygiene products from the UDEI protocol, post-surgical kits, contact lens care, and protective eyewear.

The point is signal over noise. Eye care products are a confusing category — aisles of similar-looking bottles with very different formulations. U Shoppe narrows the choice to what UVG clinicians would hand a patient on the way out of an appointment.

Shipped across Canada. Patients who saw a clinician at any UVG brand can re-order recovery and maintenance products without coming back in.

Product categories

  • Preservative-free artificial tears
  • Lid hygiene (cleansers, wipes)
  • Post-cataract recovery kits
  • Post-laser recovery kits
  • Contact lens solutions & cases
  • Omega-3 supplements (eye-specific)
  • Warm compresses & masks
  • Protective & reader eyewear

Charitable — The foundation we proudly support

Giving the gift of sight, at home and around the world.

An independent, registered Canadian non-profit advancing eye health through research, education, and global outreach.

Through FORSEE Canada, volunteer surgeons have restored sight to 240+ patients in Kenya, scholarships have launched emerging eye care leaders, and 128 medical students have received clinical training in underserved regions. We helped found it, and supporting its mission remains one of the things we’re proudest of.

For patients and families — many tell us they want to give something back after their care. A donation or sponsorship through FORSEE turns that gratitude into sight for someone who would otherwise go without.

For physicians, optometrists, and allied health professionals — FORSEE’s surgical missions and education programmes run on volunteer expertise. Whether you’re exploring a practice with UVG, building a career here, or already established elsewhere, volunteering with FORSEE is one of the most rewarding ways to widen your impact.

FORSEE Canada is an independent registered non-profit with its own board and charitable registration. Donations are processed and tax-receipted by FORSEE Canada directly.
